A Family Trip Through History

I currently do not have many photographs of my mom's relatives.  They appear to be quite scarce.  She had two brothers whose names were Leslie and Billy and a sister named Joan.  Both Billy and Joan died before they were two years old.  Leslie died in the 1980's.

My mom's mother Laura Fellows (nee Smith) was born one of twenty children, this may seem hard to believe but it is true.

OK let me make a start.

Mom's Uncle Bert Smith

This is Mom's Uncle Bert, He was The brother Of Laura Smith

My great uncle Herbert.  The second photo shows him sitting on the right.  I am informed that he spent many years in Burntwood Mental Hospital in Staffordshire.  This was due to the effects of shell shock during the first world war.

Mom's Uncle James Thomas Smith

Unfortunately I have no photo of James Thomas Smith known as Tom Smith.  He was killed in action in the first world war in France on September 4th 1918 aged 21 years.  He was in the Notts and Derby Regimement  His religion was Wesleyan.  Above is a photo of his grave which I am led to believe is in France.

Leslie Fellows

As previously stated Leslie fellows was the brother of my mother Marion Miller.  Lesley passed away in the 1980's. His wife is named Patria and they have 3 children, Steven, Clive and Anne.  Two photograph of Leslie as a young boy with his dad and my mom Prudence Marion can be found in the mom's parents section above.

Above are the children of Mary Whitehouse (no not the politician).  Mary was the daughter of Emma Smith, Emma Smith was the sister of Laura Smith (mom's mother), therefore Emma was an aunt to my mother Marion Miller.

This photograph has seen better days but nevertheless it is still a piece of history.  It was taken in WWII at a public house in Leamore Lane, Walsall.  this pub is called the Crown Inn.  It was run by Mr and Mrs Norman Bird.

This was an A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) party. Top row 5th from the left is Jack Whitehouse.  Mary Whitehouse is 3rd row down, 4th from the left, she has her hands on the shoulders of the man in front.  My mother Marion Miller is pictured 3rd row down on the far right.
